Gasper’s Management Team
Robert Gasper, President and Founder of Gasper Landscapes -and- Gasper Home and Garden Showplace
Bob’s professional experience spans several careers, from working in the airline industry to managing the family delicatessen business. His break into the field of landscape design and construction began when he first started helping friends spruce up their homes and gardens on weekends. Bob saw this as an opportunity to combine his love of the outdoors with his love and acumen for business. It’s Bob’s entrepreneurial vision which has guided the company through more than 25 years of growth, evolving from a one-man operation to a full service landscape design and build firm, as well as a state-of-the-art retail garden center in Bucks County. Bob works closely with all members of the Gasper team and monitors every project bearing the company name.
Michael Mauri, Vice President/Operations Manager
Mike has been with Gasper Landscape Design & Construction since its inception. Originally a project foreman, Michael’s proven experience in every aspect of project construction and management led to his appointment as Vice President of Operations. Michael coordinates the task-specific daily assignment of Gasper’s 14 planting, irrigation and drainage, construction, and hardscaping crews. He also manages all project construction related materials inventories and is the chairman of Gasper’s Safety Committee. Michael holds numerous certificates from both industry affiliates and Rutgers University in landscape lighting, irrigation and plant material identification.
Jeff Karr, Vice President of Construction
Since 1996, Jeff’s hands-on experience in all aspects of landscape construction is used in training our construction crews and overseeing all phases of project construction. Jeff acted as the general contractor for the construction of Gasper’s Design Center and Home & Garden Showplace. He’s coordinated numerous subcontractors and supervised Gasper’s own masonry and construction crews through all phases of construction. Stop by and see the results! With a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from Ursinus College Jeff is also a state certified pesticide applicator’s license and is qualified as an I.C.P.I. installer. Outside of Gasper, Jeff volunteers on the Occupational Advisory Board at Bucks County Technical School.
In-House Landscape Designers
Thaddeus Brown has been with Gasper since 1997 as an in-house conceptual designer and planting planner. Before becoming the driving force behind the company’s move from hand-drawn work to CAD system drawings, Thaddeus was a former design department manager for eight years. His responsibilities include the review and control of all design work produced by Gasper, project presentations, site management and client development. Most recently, Thaddeus has been involved in CAD 3D modeling of proposed design work to assist clients in visualizing their projects. Thaddeus is a summa cum laude graduate from Temple University with an associate’s degree in Landscape Design and Horticulture. Prior to joining Gasper, Thaddeus was the assistant director of Horticulture at the Andalusia Foundation and Arboretum. His current passion outside of the office is collecting and breeding hybrid daylilies.
Nick Lupinacci has been with Gasper since 2005 as an in-house conceptual designer and planting planner. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Design and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture with over 20 years of experience in the design and build field.
Landscape Sales Designers
James Contento, a member of the Gasper design and sales team since 2001, serves as a valuable asset to the company, both as a designer and a project manager. James has been working in the landscape industry since 1979 and has five award-winning Philadelphia Flower Show exhibits to his credit. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in 1982. James has volunteered his time to the Pennsylvania Nurserymen’s Association by serving on their trade show committee and helping to develop the grounds for their headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Christopher DiVito, a Registered Landscape Architect, comes to Gasper Landscapes with 13 years of experience focused on residential design build projects. His experience has touched all aspects of a project from initial client and conceptual meetings through construction. His skills include computer and hand drafting, conceptual and design development as well as construction documentation. As an inventive problem solver, Christopher is excited by finding innovative solutions to design challenges.
Jim Folz comes to the Gasper’s Landscape design and sales team with over 10 years of hands-on field experience as one of Gasper’s top foremen. His construction background has translated into strong project management skills from the beginning design process through all phases of project implementation. Jim has augmented his construction skills with ongoing coursework at Rutgers University in residential landscape design. He is a member of Gasper’s Safety Committee and has earned numerous certificates in hardscape construction, lighting and irrigation installation. Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with he wife and three children. Jim has also managed multiple Little League baseball teams, and has been a volunteer board member to help guide and promote the goals of the organization.
Erik Freeman was born and raised landscaping in Bucks County soil, coming from a family of dedicated horticulturists and landscape designers. He chose to follow the family tradition, by earning a bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design at the University of Tennessee and numerous certifications with in the landscape field. His education and more than 20 years of work experience in different areas of the country pleasantly influence his award winning designs.
Bobby Gasper has worked with the company since he was a young boy. Bobby started off part time in retail in 2005, and then shifted to landscaping when he worked on a landscape /hardscape crew from 2007 to 2010. During that time, he also studied Landscape Architecture and Business at West Virginia University. Like his father, Bobby takes an interest in every project bearing the company name. Bobby has been an influential member of the sales design team since 2009, where he uses his varied experience to transform the customer’s ideas and visions of outdoor living into reality.
Mary Anna Okin, is a PA registered Landscape Architect, who joined the sales/design team at Gasper Landscapes in 2007 after a 7-year tenure abroad with her family, in Norway. She holds a BLA from Rhode Island School of Design and a MLA from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and has 20 years of experience in Landscape Architecture, with emphasis on planning and design. Mary Anna enjoys developing and managing design/build landscape solutions for her clients. The aspect that she enjoys most, is that she is part of the project from start to finish, and often, for many years after.
Christina Reeves is a PA registered Landscape Architect, and has been on the design and sales staff at Gasper’s since spring 2011. Christina comes to us with 18 years of experience in the field of Landscape Architecture and has spent the last 11 specializing in residential design. Coming from a long line of Penn Staters, she earned her BS in Landscape Architecture at Pennsylvania State University in 1994, where she won an ASLA merit award for her studies.Christina believes the key to great residential design is to be a great garden “counselor”- carefully listening to what her clients’ needs and wants are and then facilitating a healthy relationship with their yards through strong design and appropriate garden choices. When she’s not in the office, on a jobsite you can be sure to find Christina experimenting in her own garden.
John Schweizer is the Senior Sales Designer at Gasper Landscape Design & Construction and has been with the company since 1999. While attending Bloomsburg University as a biology major, John’s “summer job” quickly became his newfound career. After graduation, John began working full time in the landscape industry and has accumulated 10 years of professional experience as a landscape construction foreman. This hands-on experience in all areas of construction has served John well in his ability to communicate complex design solutions to his clients, as well as helped him oversee the project management of many of Gasper’s largest installations. John has been the project manager for several of Gasper’s P.L.N.A. award-winning projects and cares for every project, large or small, as though it were for his own home.
George Mihalchick has been creating ponds for over 25 years. After studying Business Management at Old Dominion University, and completing several Dale Carnegie workshops, George worked his way to manage different garden centers in eastern PA. His passion for “water gardening” blossomed in 1988 when he started creating water features on his own. Traveling the country to study different pond products and techniques, George is considered among the top water garden specialists in the country. His creativity and knowledge has earned him many awards over the years, including The Philadelphia Flower Show.George continues to educate others as well as the young to include the Boy Scouts with Nature programs, constructing displays for the Jr. Flower Show, working with schools constructing ponds for “Ponds for Kids” programs, as well as teaching seminars at Morris Arboretum.
John Gleason is a Temple University graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Landscape Architecture. He brings to the Gasper team a sense of technical capabilities that inculde drawing, field analysis, and 3-d renderings.
Michael Le (Sales Design Assistant) is a Temple University graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Landscape Architecture with a focus on sustainable design practices. He puts theory into good practice working on Gasper’s residential design/build projects, in which he creatively incorporates sustainable aspects in landscape designs for customers who wish to have a low impact, yet beautiful environment.
Dave Mooney (Lead Estimator) has been with Gasper Landscapes for over 10 years. In the early days, he began working with the landscape crews and quickly moved into a foreman position. Upon completing college, Penn State (Abington) for Engineering, and then Penn State (Harrisburg) for Accounting, Dave became a Sales Assistant/Project Manager. After years of experience in each area of the business, Dave now embraces the title of Lead Estimator. This roll allows him to combine his engineering skills and his proficiency with numbers and apply them to every landscape project. When not in the office crunching numbers, you can find Dave playing hockey, camping, hiking, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
Chris Toselli (Sales Design Assistant) a West Virginia University graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Landscape Architecture and has worked in the landscape industry since 2001. Beginning in landscape maintenance, Chris quickly moved into design and construction spectrum. His field experience translates seamlessly into the conceptual design process at Gasper. Outside of work, Chris enjoys many outdoor activities that inspire his creativity within the natural landscape.
