The homeowners faced a dilemma: their existing outdoor area, an open deck surrounded by woods, was plagued by falling acorns, making outdoor seating actually hazardous. Rather than sacrificing the trees that drew them to the property, they sought Gasper’s expertise to create a covered structure that would enhance their space.
Covered Deck
Our clients didn’t just want to cover the existing deck; instead, they envisioned a raised patio that felt more like an integral part of the original house structure rather than an afterthought. So, Gasper designed and built a screened-in, covered, elevated wet-laid Pennsylvania bluestone patio. The elevated patio seamlessly blends with the home, creating a treehouse-like environment that extends the main living spaces outdoors.
Careful attention was paid to ensure the new stonework seamlessly blends with the home’s existing elements, such as the raised ribbon-style pointing. This helps to create a cohesive look that feels original and timeless.
Outdoor Kitchen & Grill
This outdoor space is not just for relaxation—it’s also made for entertaining! Featuring a large outdoor cooking area complete with bar seating and an oversized Lynx professional grill, it’s an entertainer’s dream. The natural stonework on this masonry cook station perfectly matches the original stonework on the house. The upper granite counter provides ample space for cushioned Ipe bar stools (Opal Swivel Hi Dining Arm Chair by Jensen Outdoor).

Outdoor Gas Fireplace
Like a living room without walls, this outdoor space invites comfort and connection. Plush seating surrounds a stone-veneered, ventless gas masonry fireplace, while a large TV above the mantel provides the perfect backdrop for entertaining or relaxing. Thoughtfully designed, this is a space where everyone naturally gathers.
Cable Deck Railing
An elevated patio or deck requires railings for safety, but another way to maintain an open view is to use stainless steel cable railing for decks instead of traditional balusters. It also gives your space a more contemporary style. (Black Radiance Rails with Cable Rail Infill by Timbertech.)
Phantom Screens
Look closely — this outdoor room is screened in with automatic retractable screens by Phantom Screen. You might not be able to see them in this photo, but that’s the point: to enjoy the view without any insects, not to see the screens.
