Spacious and Gracious.
This home had a small deck jammed into an outside corner of its building. It was unworkable and overcrowded because it contained a cooking area, a dining area, and a pass through in a very confined space. It was time to open up!
Gasper designers talked about functional requirements with the family, and determined that they really needed a much larger space. Also, they would be better served by integrating these functions into the landscape rather than being perched above it. They separated the cooking and dining areas and placed them on a patio at ground level. They then added a pergola to further define the dining area, and included a comfortable seating area. The entire arrangement is connected to the home by steps and a raised landing which gives easier, unrestricted access to the interior.
